::Quickie Post

Boys are napping...

I'm steaming veggies for them...

All of my windows are open...

There's a cool breeze blowing through my house and I love it...

The only sound I hear right now if the clicking of my keyboard...

LIFE IS GOOD!

::Family Time = Most Important

Lately, I've been really emotional about all aspects of family time. The thought of it, actually having it, remembering memories from it, etc. It all gets me a little choked up when I stop and think about it. Now that I'm a mother, seeing my children play (nicely) together bring me the greatest joy on earth. Another thing that brings me joy is watching our family members create those memories with our boys, too. We are very fortunate to have my mom and sister close by, my Dad gets to see them a few weekends a month, and the Hubs family who makes great efforts to come spend some time out here with us. Now that the boys are mobile and have very short attention spans, it's even harder for us to travel with them, not to mention all the crap that we'd have to take with us to make our lives manageable during our visits. In about 2 weeks, my MIL and FIL will be coming out for a weekend visit, along with my BIL and SIL and their 3 year old daughter. E (my niece) and my two boys are the only grand kids, so it's extra special when we can all get together. The kiddos have a blast together! We will be going to Vegas to spend Mother's Day with the Hubs whole family again, and I'm really looking forward to more family time.

Last Friday, a friend of a friend experienced a great tragedy that shook their family to the core. It has made news, and authorities are still trying to piece everything together to figure out exactly what happened that morning. I've never met this friend of our friend, however just the mere thought of experiencing what their family is going through made me teary eyed. Horrible. Heart breaking. I've been saying prayers for the families of both victims for peace and contentment as they grieve and try to cope with the loss of their loved ones.

This story is an strong reminder to me why it so important to cherish moments with family. Today is a gift. Tomorrow isn't promised to anyone. Life is precious. It's also a good reminder to always tell loved ones how much they are loved. If you have a spare few seconds, please say a prayer for these families involved in this accident.

:: Non-Candy Easter Baskets

I found this list on Pinterest and thought it was great for kiddos! My boys are still a little young for this, but it'll be great come next Easter.

Here's a small portion of what the blogger suggested...

Easter Basket Ideas (other than candy):
  • Sidewalk Chalk (make your own without any toxic ingredients if you have the time)
  • Playdough
  • Gak  (another homemade ooze recipe)
  • Bubbles
  • Crayons (melt old or new crayons down and more into molds for personalized crayons)
  • Color books (or print coloring pages from online)
  • Spongeballs (great water toy or baby toy. Cheap and easy!)
  • Chipmunk or other animals from a glove
  • Teddy bears or a socktopuss  from colorful socks
  • Letters, shapes, or number sponges for bath time
  • Felt Food for play kitchens (Lots of stuff out there!)
  • Dinosaur tails for imagination play
  • Superhero capes
  • Eggs full or small toys (think plastic dinosaurs, army men, Legos, etc)
  • Eggs full of colorful goldfish or cheerios
  • Stickers or stamps
  • Pencils and stationary
  • Art supplies
  • Kites
  • Balls or other sports equipment
  • Make your own airplane kits
  • Sippy cups or drink cups
  • Puzzles and other games
  • Flash cards or playing cards
  • Hair or jewelry accessories
  • Dress-up items
  • New clothes or shoes
  • Movies or music (Veggie Tales Jonah DVD is $5 at Target, along with some other kids movies)
  • Books and comics
  • Sand toys
  • Bath toys
  • Kids gardening supplies
  • Bug catching supplies
  • Craft kits
This year, I'll probably go with bubbles, bath toys, summer toys, new shoes (already ordered them) and some of their organic snacks that they love. I recently found the most adorable blue sock monkey Easter baskets for them, too! I always struggled with finding a basket for them that wasn't purple, pink and flowery.

::3rd Anniversary

Wednesday is mine and the Hubs 3rd Anniversary! Yay for 3 great years of marriage! A lot has happened for us in three years...
- Our Wedding
- I graduated from college
- Moved to Colorado (from California)
- Bought our 1st house
- Got pregnant... with twins!
- Had Landon and Connor
- Made several trips back to CA to visit friends and family
- and MUCH more

Obviously we've had our ups and downs, but all in all we have had a wonderful 3 years! And to top it off, the Hubs outdid himself and went above and beyond anything I could've imagined. He surprised me with my first pair of diamond earrings! I was blown away! I've never received a gift like that before. It was nice to know that he thought about it ahead of time, too. Normally, life is so crazy that he forgets stuff like this. I felt very loved!

Wishing you all a wonderful day!
